Glide

Glide, 3.5 x 5.5, six color Moku Hanga print on Bamboo paper. The experiments continue. I used a piece of 1/4 inch birch plywood I had laying around and carved on both sides for this two block reduction print. Things learned: birch ply does not cut as easily or hold line as well as shina, 1/4" ply is too thin to use both sides and warped badly, and the bamboo paper I used (a thick card stock), did not take the ink as well as the rice papers. The learning continues...

This is a 6 color, 2 block Moku Hanga print.  I am teaching myself that process and this is the first testing of the printing method and materials.

Summer Feeling

It has been extremely hot here in NE Florida this year and having to spend so much time inside has the effect of time just drifting by like the lilies in a pond.

November Walk on the Greenway

I am still working from reference photos taken last winter while walking on the greenway.  The color and light changes so dramatically from week to week that even the same part of the creek will look incredibly different.    This was from a walk in late November under a grey and cloudy sky.

More Neighborhood Birds of Paradise

This stand of Bird of Paradise had been on a street corner in our neighborhood for years producing magnificent blooms each season.  This is from the last set of photos I took of the plant before the new owners had it removed and replaced with grass.  I have since put in my own plant and hope to see my own "squadron" of blooms on it after it establishes.

Oyster Docks in Apalachicola

In one of our last excursions around Florida before Covid we stayed in Apalachicola.   I have been looking at these images for a while now and just got the urge to put it on canvas.  This was from photos I took down at the old Oyster docks in town.  I think at the time it was still in business and hope they are still processing the oyster catch there today.
